In January 2017, The National Media Museum in Bradford, in UK (now known as Science+Media Museum) commissioned me to create an animation to demonstrate particles moving as a wave for an exhibition.
As a non physics aficionado, I was pleased to have some reference from this website: http://www.acs.psu.edu/drussell/Demos/waves/wavemotion.html
The Media Museum wanted a more visually interesting version of the Longitudinal Waves on the website above.
I created an array of spheres and used a formula to pass a wave through the spheres. I used a top-down camera to capture the motion, without foreshortening or depth. I then added some extra glow and motion blur in After Effects.
