I wanted to experiment a bit with walk cycles in After Effects, so I picked my wife's Ikea cuddly broccoli as a subject. We like to call him Cubby. This way I can make my wife smile, as well as play around with some plugins.
Firstly, I drew him in Illustrator.
I used the Rubberhose plugin for the arms, legs and feet. I used Shade it! to create the texture. I used some puppet pins on the 'broccles' to make them wobble. I had intended to use a plugin called Overlap for this, but then found that I didn't need it. I'm hoping to get a chance to use it on something else.
I've used Rubberhose quite a bit commercially, but I haven't had a chance to make anything frivolous with it until now.
